I have to say people are so good to me :D The wonderful Emily from The Floss Box sent me this link Perfect Corners as I found when finishing my ornie the corners didn’t turn out perfect. I will for sure try this next time. Jeremy (DS) is insisting that I finish three more ornies for the tree. Not sure about three more, but hopefully at least one more. I saw some fun looking trim with beads and such that I’d like to play around with.

I stitched this ornie the other night. Got the pattern from Stitching The Night Away did x’s instead of stem stitch, added the bead border & changed the placement of the beads inside the design. I used these instructions Basic Flat Ornie. I did make some changes I didn’t have foam so I used a little bit of stuffing then covered that with fabbie before I put the stitching on so the stuffing doesn’t poke out. I find it tricky to get the design perfectly centered so any tips on that would be helpful. The instructions suggest using tacky glue to add the cording, but I used hot glue instead for that figure it would go on quicker that way.

This one is a finish that doesn’t require many materials other than stitched piece, felt, and ribbon or cording for a hanger. Just reading the instructions I could see the corners being a bit of a pain. Also instead of finger pressing I’d trim and then use my iron to get a good seam allowance pressed in. Other than that it seems pretty simple. I think it’s a great idea to add a decorative edge with the pinking shears Square Ornie

Here are great Biscornu Instructions Easy to follow, and lots of great pictures. They are not that hard as here is my example of a Biscornu. Please forgive the horrible pictures as the good camera was with Bill out of the country. This was for a Christmas Exchange. I got the designs from Biscornu Patterns

So yeah I sometimes actually finish things as well….lol.
Some neat ideas of what to do with Biscornus other than using it for a pin cushion which I plan on making at least one more for myself for that. The same site for the Biscorn Patterns to stitch also has mini Biscornu Patterns stitch three finish, and attach with beads, and voila a lovely and unique scissor fob. Also finishing a mini biscorn adding a ribbion hanger would make a lovely Christmas Ornie as well. Have fun, and let those creative juices flow.

This is a finish that really interets me. I figure it is well suited for those in between size finished pieces. To large to make an ornie out of, but to small to justify spending the money to have it professionally framed. When done you’ll be left with a free standing cross stitch finish. I’ve seen some that have bows and such added at the end which looks great. Here are the instructions Flat Fold

This is a cute finish. I like tuck ornaments. One year I tried to make tuck pillows. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get it to work out. Hopefully this one will work out for people. I may have just measured wrong or something. Tuck Ornament Instructions

This is probably one of the most popular way to finish a Christmas Ornie sew it into a little pillow. I’ve finished many an ornie this way. It can also be done without a sewing machine ;) What I spent a long time trying to figure out is how the heck people were getting the cording in there too. Well just the other day I was looking at a wall hanging I got in an exchange years ago. She added cording to it when she finished it. Imagine my surprise when I looked real close the cording was very cleverly and neatly sewn on AFTER the ornie was all sewn together and stuffed…..duh Stuffed Ornie With Cording

Okay unlike the other two finishes this one I have never done. It will take a little more time to do this finish, but they sure are striking when done.
.
This finish lends itself to diamond shape motifs. The instructions say it’s better for a diamond design when you look at it it’s diamond shape unlike a square you just want to finish on point. I’m not sure why that would make a difference, but according to the instructions apparently it does. So without more waiting here is Self-backing Diamond Finish

Isn’t this a sweet ornie? I love that she used sparkly Christmas wrapping cording. This is another ornie that could be whipped up pretty quick. Just make sure you have the ‘must haves’ on hand and you are good to go. What a great idea of using a compass. Any time I’ve needed a circle to finish an ornie I’ve had to use little glass juice cups. I tell you I’m going to be grabbing a compass the next time I’m shopping. Here are the instructions How to make a round ornament Happy finishing.

I thought these were just to adorable not to share. I’m not sure exactly how one would label the bobbin, but they just look so good. I think they’d make great little gifts for exchanges. Here is one with the floss on it.

I saw these on The Floss Box, but Emily got the instructions from The Small Object
